“Painting is a very refined medium for me. I always felt that working with paint on canvas needs respect for the material and deep concentration to be able to create a piece. When I started to paint I initially liked using strong, vivid colours, but as time went by, I realised looking for my own style that for me the strongest colour combination is black and white.

My favourite colour has always been black as long as I remember, a colour that gives me dramatic deepness and infinite darkness while the cleanness of white means purity, harmony and light to me. The contrast of these two colours bring me the best satisfaction for visualising my thoughts.

I have always been fascinated by old, black and white family photographs and this is one of the roots where my addiction to monochrome comes from. Monochrome is also the channel which harmonises the best with my feelings. Living in different parts of the world my life became more contrasty, and I often experience black, hopeless moments but fantastic, light moments bringing excitement and happiness too. The unpredictable extremity of feelings in everyday life led me to frequently see things in black and white.

In my works I talk about my personal experiences, love, femininity, the pain of loss, isolation, the struggle of assimilation and dilemmas about choosing the right path in life.”
